COMING UP INTO MY 3RD WEEK!

So... I made it to Russia if you didn't know. It's ABSOLUTELY gorgeous, let me tell you. Moscow looks like a big city that was straight out of a magazine. It's like a place I've never been before...Within all of this it has been a huge adjustment for me and my classmates. It took us a while to get acclimated to the way this place works but now we have the hang of it. To be honest, I thought I wouldn't be able to get the flow of how the things work here but, surprisingly it hasn't been that bad. As for school, MXAT is amazing! The people are super friendly and have made the journey here much easier. I am so intrigued by Russian culture...it is soooo much different than in America. Many of the people don't smile like in America. Let me tell you, this took me a few days to get used too...it caught me off guard. I was so used to smiling at strangers when we would make eye contact on the street, but here is so different. It's funny because all of our Russian professors tell us to "SMILE," because Americans love to smile!This is something I never thought about until I came here and it was quite funny.
As for the food it's better than I expected the taste of things aren't as rich and fatty as it is back in America which is okay. I am wondering how long it will take me to acquire a "Russian tongue"...maybe forever, until then I will keep trying to find the good food Moscow has to offer. Even though I must say the KFC here is pretty good!
Now, I am preparing for our weekend getaway to St. Petersberg! I don't really know much about it so I am going to let it all be a surprise when I get there.

10 Days Away!

Well...Well...Well...I don't even know where to start. I guess I should start by saying "добро пожаловать" which means "What's up" in Russian (Just had to throw that in).

Anyway, my name is Chynna!

I am currently in my 3rd year of college at the wonderful Northern Illinois University! I am a BFA, acting major. And, if you haven't noticed by now...I'm going to RUSSIA! No, you didn't read this wrong (lol). I am going to study Theater there for THREE MONTHS. This is a trip of a lifetime for my classmates and I. Not only will we be studying there, we will be going to where our founding fathers of acting started it all at the MOSCOW ART THEATER.

Right now, I am exactly 10 days away from hopping on the plane to Russia. To be honest, it feels unreal. I always knew this moment would come but not this soon. I was just organizing some of my clothes to pack and I felt myself getting teary eyed. I will be leaving my family and friends, but I will be going on this journey with all the people I love and who have been with me since my freshman year of college.




That being said...

I am beyond grateful to have this opportunity to become a better actor and human being. I am sooooooo exicted to bring everyone reading with me on this journey! My aim for this blog is to tell you all about my experience in Moscow. I will be talking about everything from school to food and everything in between!
